Meg versus man isn't a fight... it's a slaughter.”

-The Meg (2018)

As humans, we live on land. We live day by day driving along dull city streets, walking along dirt paths, or biking along dirt paths. We live this way. Never questioning the solidness of the matter beneath our feet. When you think about it, it’s sad really. Why don’t we ever stop and think about what it would be like to live within another state of matter? Let’s say, liquid. Let’s say, water. Let’s say… The ocean.

As humans, we live at an average size of five feet and five inches. An average weight of 137 pounds. And we’re all ok with this? I, for one, am not. I’m not ok with this. Let’s face it-- we’re small. We call ourselves the top of the food chain. But can we really call ourselves the top of anything, anything at all, when we’re smaller than the common moose? What would it be like if we were able to live at a different rate of growth? Let’s say, bigger. Let’s say…

Bigger than 9 school buses.

What would it be like, to possess the power of a being with that gigantic size? To live freely in the open waters of the ocean? That is something you and I will never know. Unless you are…

The Megalodon.

The Megalodon is a prehistoric shark that roamed the earth millions of years ago. Out in the vast open ocean, the Meg reached sizes up to 25 meters long and 48 metric tons heavy. Now that’s pretty big! Wikipedia describes the Megalodon as “robust-looking”. Just imagine the sheer heroic beauty possessed by a creature that large, that powerful. Some people say it went extinct years ago. I, for one think it’s still out there. In fact, I know it’s still out there. 95% of the world’s oceans have never been explored. That means we really have no idea what’s going on down there. How could anyone say that a creature as astonishingly powerful as the Megalodon doesn’t exist?

He’s out there alright.

Thank you, Megalodon. No creature that has ever existed could ever compare to your magnificent strength and greatness. I know that you’re out there, and I believe that we’ll find you someday. Anyone who disagrees is wrong and should expect to be fiercely challenged.
